I want the battles to be more realistic and in 3D. and because of my idea of creatures different sizes the player could move in the battle field to look at the monsters from diferrent directions, so the monsters could be bigger than the screen with no problem. and by the way, kody, I know where you living, so you better watch out you idiet, your dum ideas are not accepted in our association of the KodyHunters, we are professionals at killing kody's around the world, you are our next target, we will be watching you!! it would b cool 2 give player option 2 render the battle in 3d with true armie size (imagine 200 troglodytes fighting off 5 titans while hero is casting lightning bolt on all of them, the sky goes dark, few of them panic, and they all get fried:). just give us option to render the battle in that mode after it is finished and save it. if nothing, we can afford bigger hards:)

Making a castle attack like in Age of Wonders 2 would be great. There you can attack with several armies from several sides. On the map, the castle takes up 9 grids (center one, and 8 around). Any troops positioned inide those 9 grids are inside the castle and will defend it from their side in case of an attack(alltough they can move during the battle to defend some other side). an attacker can position his armies around the castel and when he attacks with one army, all that are right next to the enemy castle will join the fight. Offers a great battle and lot's of tactics.

Definitely bring back the battle grid and take the heros out of the battle. Also do not allow shooters to be hit when they shoot somebody, heroes 3 had much better battles compared to heroes 4.

just wondering what would happen if the fightings in the game would be in RTS, like Age of mythology or Warcraft III, but using a kind of engine that is like Rome Total war... so you can get lots of units into the screen, you have titans thats just huge compared to other units, and your stronger units can have area damage maybe. Also units with speical attacks like Medusas can turn enemies into stone (like in AOM) And your heros, like the ones in Warcraft III, can cast spells that are like the original Heroes games (lighting storms = multiple hits, while bolts can only hit one target, and with ice blasts doing area damage).

Make the battlefield 3D, so you can rotate camera. Do not remove heroes from battles, the warior heroes are very bad when they can't fight.

perhaps, flying creatures could be in the air and fight eachother....if there is a flying in your army and a flying in the enemies army, then during the fight they would fly up and fight in the air, and stay there until they attack a ground monster...(it would be cool if one of them died and fell down to the ground from the air)... just a thought... Make the battlefield more "alive" maybe hills for units to hide behinde for archers. The battlefield can be bigger, better place for millitary manuvers.

BIGGER COMBAT MAP !!! Keep the optional grid of HMM3. Rotating camera for realistic unit sizes. Bigger and interactive trees and obstacles. eg burn trees, area damage of lighting in snow terrain. Different terrain types on one combat map. Include landmarks of the adventure map in the combat screen so from the advenure map you can pick better the battlefield. Show in the combat screen different cuantities of units of the same type acording to their aprox number so you can see in the battlefield the difference between fight a few squires and a full legion of them(rather than only the current tile abobe their heads). Don't Forget the combat strategy(was very lame in HMM4) you aren't the best making eye candy... and please ADD MORE UNIT SLOTS !!

How about havin' spells that take mana and time to be casted, so you can have an hero(acording to its skill or level) casting more than one spell(of the lower levels) in the same turn and spend two or more turns casting a big.. Great.. HUGE spell. Excuse my earth lenguage i'm from Mars.

Tactical skill may be divided so one type work as in HMM4 and the other more likely as HMM3 but also allowing the hero to use better the Battlefield like knowing the obstacles and terrain traits(a inexperienced hero wouldn't know for example the slope of a hill and see it inacuratelly witch means his units can't use the pendient for attack/defend bonusses) so his troops can move farther hide better climb trees, rocks(for archers would be exellent) so the strategic deep of a open land battle be greater. Also when a unit enters defend mode must also chose if improve its ranged, melee or magic defence. Unit habilities was great idea, compensates the lack of a more usefull battlefield. Xcuse my high demands but don't wanna c turn based strategy desapear before dull shallow real time strategy. Chess style battles of this game was what made me bought it on the first place.

1. I like Christoffers' idea about flying creatures. 2. Archery should be allways first on the move, even before angels and phoenix. All ranged units should have priority. 3.Archery shoul have aditional option instead of defend (or maybe both): fire when in range. With this option they would attack the first one who enters in range, or the specified unit. 4. You shoud allow the spliting or gathering of units before and during the battle. 5.There should be a special bonuses on battlefield for units on "home" terrain. (elves in woods, dwarfs in caves, deamons on cursed land, undead on graveyards...) and when defending tha capital city. 6.After the battle you should allow winner to choose what to do with other hero (kill him, capture him, let him join or let him go). You should ad nobility in heroes' data, very noble heroes would never join other kingdom, normally noble would join for money, nonnoble would join for free. Nobility is rising when hero takes experience instead of money from chests, when he don't chase creatures that are scattered, when let go the surrending hero or with artifact. And nobility is lowered when he does the oposite. 7.The hero can retreat from the battlefield and escape ONLY if his movement is greater than the other hero, or he will be caught.

The battle in HOMM IV has a grid too small. It should be enlarged to enable more brain work at the battlefield. For me this is a major feature to keep the game addictive and interesting for a long playing time.

i would love to see the battle screen made more proportional, pixies should be tiny and titans almost bigger than can fit int he screen. it would also be cool to try and have some form of depiction of creature numbers. anmation for each of a few/horde/throng of wood elves. (ie. seeing one archer kill a dragon is lame, i wanna see a legion of archers fire a thousand arrows). this would obviously entail having the battle screen zoomed out.

We all know that real battles are not won in several minutes, so I suggest making a battle to continue for many days (game days), lets say 1 round per day or 5 rounds per day (maybe it could be set in the options).For example when 5 rounds are finish and there are still monsters on the field, the game exits the figth and continues the gameplay in normal mode, while those two fighters remains standing on the battlefield.During normal mode other armies and heroes could come to help the fighting heroes, and could attack lets say from behind of the side. I think it would be more realistic and more tactical.

Combat Grid Well, I'm not very fond of bringing back the grid. The scenario looks much better without it. On the other hand it's quite useful. My idea should suit both sides: Make the grid very faint or implement a button to switch it on or off.

There should not be fighters like green joker in the game & the figures of the fighters should be larger. As for the effects of the sound and movement accompaning the fight must be better.

I think that the combat style is a great concept, turn based is very underused in todays Stradegy game industry and is a great idea because it allows us more time to think and be strategical. The only problem is lack of strategical opportunities, and there are SO MANY. Make the battlefields interactive, ex. bunkers(hollowed out trees for small units, hide behind rocks reduce dmg from ranged units, water aligned units could swim/ possibly atk by see for some, many others im sure you could come up with) neutral creeps could enter the battle from time to time(these would be lone natural units ex. hydras dragons etc) make the defend option so that you can shield another unit, ex. a dwarf defends archer, so when another unit attacks the archers the dwarf jumps in front, with a slight damage reduction and loss of turn, some units could even have less or greater damage reduction depending on special abilities). I just found this site and havent really had time to come up with ideas, but im sure you guys could find TONNES of ways. the fighting type in heroes 4 is better than heroes 3 because they atk and retaliate at the same time... i think this helpes some battles out. like if 1 archangel goes up and killes 50 peasentsthe peasents wont have enough man power to take on the archangel then

I hope in Heroes-5 battles will be shown real armies not just types of units with numbers on it and it will be able to select units of one type like in RTS and send them into diferent directions and of course much much MUCH bigger battle maps

I agree with Michael!! greed in HOMM 4 is terrible!!! And experience after every battle has to be known! I still don't know how morale is working in HOMM 4 :( , this supposed to be controlled. And counterstrike - has to be as it was in HOMM 3. The system of "first strike" - was way too coplicated... In HOMM3 that was easy and logical - who faster - shall be first.

The fighting hero changes the whole game.This new conception is good in its own way but when i hear 'heroes of might&magic' i think of hmm3.Why dont you just make a whole new game and keep the good old 'heroes'/and it really is good and especially in the way it WAS/ in the good old way it used to be?

larger, more complicated battlefields. Especially for a siege. previous heroes battlefields are just a rectangle with some obstacles or a wall. Perhaps have battlefields more related to what the size and shape of the terrain is on the adventure map. Attacking castles from more than just one side would be good.

We want the catapult back in city siege. The battles in HOMM 3 wore much more better tha battles in HOMM4.Especially siege battles. In HOMM 4 they wore HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE. ********

I don't wanne act lame but this is my first time i play Heroes V and to be honest it's to hard for example sigle player... once u upgrade ur creatures to big the wild creatures are way to big ! cus than i should need like 2 heroes to defeat it ... thats still on the normal mode so whats the hard mode than rofl ? but still i love it but i lose all the time :) can't they bring a update for the weak players than still want to play on a easy mode or something Greetz --> Cursed

heroes 4 fighting style is much better than in heroes 3. It is better when you attack and the enemy retaliates at the same time. Heroes 5 should have a fighting style like in heroes 4. Example: when 8 bone dragons hit 80 peasants first then peasants don´t have so much attack power than before, but if the peasants retaliate at the same time the attack power would be stronger.
